The experience

Day 1. We set off with the Guidders from Valbondione and climb the upper Val Seriana on the paths leading to the great alpine reservoirs. At Rifugio Curò we stop for a coffee and a photo at the Sword in the Stone, then carry on to Rifugio Barbellino, where we spend the night.

Day 2. We climb to Lago Gelt, set among the rocks at the foot of the Cime di Caronella and the Pizzo del Diavolo della Malgina: its heart shape is only visible from certain spots, and finding them is half the fun. Lunch, then the return.
