WHY THIS HIKE

The Dolmen Trail of San Giovanni

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Marcello, a qualified environmental hiking guide, affiliated with a national professional association recognised by the Italian Ministry of Enterprise. I've travelled in Peru, on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, in Florida across the Everglades, in South Africa along the Wine Route, in the United Arab Emirates in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, and as far as Suzdal, north-east of Moscow, on the so-called Golden Ring. Then I walked the Italian long-distance routes — the Via Sveva, the Magna Via Francigena, the Cammino di San Nilo, the Sentiero degli Dei, the Via di Francesco — and started building them: as a volunteer on the Via Ellenica from Brindisi to Matera, as a guide on the Via Francigena nel Sud project, and in 2022 charged with restoring the waymarking of the Rotta dei due Mari, 136 km from Polignano a Mare to Taranto. I've been a guest on Geo, Camper and Eden, since 2023 I've taught responsible tourism in secondary schools, and I founded "Cicale di Puglia", a project to bring out the cultural and natural heritage of the province of Taranto. See you in the mountains, Guidders!
