Hike to Bivacco Silvestri from Roccoli Lorla, a scenic trek on the authentic Mount Legnone
Silvestri Mountain Hut
A bare-bones bivouac hut, at the foot of the Legnone.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from Rifugio Roccoli Lorla, above Dervio, and climb towards the Bivacco Silvestri, in the Monte Legnone group. The path crosses open slopes, steep sections and stony ground up to the Porta dei Merli, with the view widening onto Lake Como and the Val Varrone. There are no special effects up there: just real mountains, silence, and a high, spare corner of the Lecco pre-Alps earned step by step.
5 reasons to come - the view over Lake Como and the Val Varrone - the Bivacco Silvestri, below the Legnone saddle - the Porta dei Merli, where everything opens up - a varied climb that never gets dull - a high corner of the Lecco pre-Alps away from the crowds
Who it suits You need good fitness: there are steep, stony sections and points asking for a sure step, especially coming down.
Real mountains, no frills: come and take them with the Guidders.
