The Gomo loop in the Oltrepò Pavese

A delightful hike in the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese, accompanied by the Guidders, through rolling hills, authentic villages and views reminiscent of Tuscany. We’ll walk through the enchanting area of Gomo, crossing the lush green Val Staffora, until we reach the Giant Sky-Blue Bench No. 247. We’ll round off the day in the historic streets of Godiasco, following in the footsteps of the Malaspina family.

The experience

This circular trek winds through hilly paths, dirt tracks and rural routes set amidst the elegant landscape of the Val Staffora. The constant ups and downs are never too steep, making for a pleasant and varied walk, perfect for those who love open views and gentle countryside.

Along the route, we’ll reach the Big Bench No. 247, the perfect spot for a panoramic break and a few souvenir photos. Towards the end, we’ll enter Godiasco, a village with medieval charm, where, amongst the narrow streets and views, we’ll seek out the traces left over the centuries by the Malaspina family.

07:30MEETING

Meeting in Godiasco

The meeting will take place at 07.30 in the mezzanine of Milan Famagosta metro station (green line). From here we will climb to the surface to take the bus 120 of the Pavesi Autoguidovie at 07.45. arriving in Godiasco Garibaldi / Pedemonti at 09.21. For those who will come by car, the meeting will be at the Gulliver supermarket car park in Godiasco at 09.25, where we will make a bar stop before starting the excursion.

From Gomo to Monte Magrera

From Godiasco (188 m) we will climb to Gomo (494 m) where we will take a break to admire the village. Then we will enter the green hills of this territory, reaching Mount Terso (550 m); here we will have our packed lunch (bring something to sit on the lawn). Be careful, we might find some brambles in this section, bring your long pants. Continuing along the trail, we will reach Mount Magrera (597), the highest point of the day.

From Monte Magrera to Monte Lupo

From Monte Magrera (m.597) we will descend towards the characteristic Oratory of San Rocco, the entry point towards the village of Poggio Alemanno (m.564). After crossing the village, we will head towards Monte Lupo (m.557). There we will find the giant celestial bench number 247 waiting for us, part of the "Big Bench Community Project." From here we can admire Gomo again from another point of view. Photographs will be a must.

From Monte Lupo to Godiasco

Leaving the great celestial bench, we will begin our descent to the village of Godiasco (m.188). Here we will take a few steps through the narrow streets of the old village and, through a section of the Varzi Voghera Greenway, reaching the parking lot of the Gulliver Supermarket to take the bus at 17.00. Arrival in Milan Famagusta at 18.19.
