Golden Loop in Val Vogna among blazing larches
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
A golden loop scented with larches, high above Alagna.
We set off with the Guidders from Sant'Antonio, deep in Val Vogna, following the historic trail 201, once the "Via Regia" linking Valsesia to the Aosta Valley. We climb with the Guidders past walser hamlets, the charming Ponte Napoleonico and the tiny San Grato church, while the forest glows in gold and red. The final stretch gets steeper, but the view makes it worth every step: ahead of us opens the green bowl of Alpe Larecchio, 1895 m, ringed by larches and crossed by a clear stream. We close the loop descending along a different side, with the warm afternoon light lighting our way.
This trail follows the ancient Walser emigration route toward the Aosta Valley — real history under your boots, marked by CAI for over a century.

Guide

Manuel
Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Manuel, a hiking and cycle touring guide from Piedmont. I know north-eastern Piedmont especially well, because I live it every day and have been out in it for thirty years: I lead groups here on treks, hikes and gravel rides, across the country I've always ridden and walked. My work brings together safety, technical preparation and attention to people: from the group's pace to the choice of route, from the weather to managing the kit. Those are the things you don't see, and they're the reason a day runs smoothly. Every outing is built to be genuine, calm and engaging, where the landscape turns into discovery and every step or pedal stroke means something. 🚴 See you in the mountains, Guidders!
