The experience

The Ferrata Gamma 1 is a classic above Lecco: it climbs between vertical walls, long metal ladders, traverses and suspension bridges, with exposure you certainly feel. It is a moderately difficult but very airy route, ideal for testing yourself without tackling anything too technical. From the start you gain height quickly in a spectacular setting: Lecco and the lake below, the Grigne and the plain all around. Halfway up an escape route leads to Rifugio Stoppani; higher still, the Pizzo d'Erna.
