The experience

We set off with the Guidders from Bonassola, on the Riviera di Levante, and walk panoramic ups and downs towards Levanto and then Monterosso, easing gradually into the atmosphere of the Cinque Terre. The path alternates woodland, old mule tracks and terraces hanging above the water, with the scent of Mediterranean scrub on you all day. It ends at Vernazza, among the coloured houses and the little harbour.
