HOW TO GET THERE
08:00PARKING
Departure from Sella Pass
We set off from Passo Sella above Canazei along a wide, well-marked trail. The terrain is easy and pleasant right from the start, winding through high-altitude meadows and gentle rolling slopes. All around, the broad open views typical of the plateau unfold, while your gaze is naturally drawn to the striking outline of the Sassolungo.
12:00HIKING TRAIL
Descent toward Campitello
The descent begins on a more varied trail, with gravel sections and tighter turns. The landscape changes quickly, moving from open terrain to more articulated areas. Some steeper sections require a bit of attention.
13:00VIEWPOINT
Canazei panoramic area
The route approaches the Canazei area while maintaining a good elevation. Flowing sections alternate with gentle climbs, offering views over Val di Fassa and surrounding peaks. A great spot for a break.
14:00HIKING TRAIL
City of Stones
A spectacular passage through the City of Stones: a natural labyrinth of boulders at the foot of Sassolungo. The trail winds among massive rocks, creating a unique and evocative environment—one of the iconic highlights of the hike.
15:00PASS
Return to Passo Sella
The final stretch is a gentle descent followed by an easy level path leading back to Passo Sella above Canazei. Here the trail becomes wide and relaxing again, perfect for completing the loop at a leisurely pace while enjoying the last stunning views of the Dolomites.

Hi Guidders! 🧡 I'm Alessandro, I'm 35 and I live in the heart of the Dolomites, in Cadore. I'm a mid-mountain leader with the Collegio Guide Alpine del Veneto and a UIMLA member, with a degree in Sport Science, an MTB guide and — yes — a sommelier too: after a hike, a good glass is never out of place. 🍷 I live the mountains in every form they come in: trekking, trail running, mountain bike adventures. Moving in nature is pure energy for me, discovery, feeling, and sharing it is the part of the job I never tire of. Panoramic ridge or woodland singletrack, the goal is the same: a real, active day that puts you back together. See you in the mountains, Guidders!
