The experience

We set off with the Guidders from the car park at the Alpe Gera dam and the path follows the lake to Alpe Gembrè, a small corner of paradise between pasture and streams. From there we climb the Val Confinale, through meadows and scree, to the Bivacco Anghileri-Rusconi, at the foot of the Passo Confinale, where the eye takes in glaciers and border peaks. The final stretch leads to Cima Fontana: a spectacular balcony facing Monte Disgrazia, Piz Palü and Pizzo Scalino.
