Autumn at Shambala
Autumn at Shambala
Autumn in the Valsassina looks like a painting.
The experience
We set off with the Guidders from the village of Indovero, above Casargo, and drop straight onto a path through centuries-old chestnut groves and fine beech woods, where the autumn colour changes with every step. Cool air, the sound of leaves under your boots and complete silence carry the climb, which passes Alpe Corina and reaches the Shambalà: a natural terrace above the valley that opens the view onto the most recognisable mountains in Lombardy.
5 reasons to come - autumn colour in the chestnut and beech woods - the natural terrace of the Shambalà - Alpe Corina and the old pastures along the way - the view that opens suddenly, up high - an autumn day worth photographing
Who it suits A steady climb on well-marked paths with nothing technical: normal walking fitness is enough.
Autumn here does not last: come and take it with the Guidders.
