The Arignano loop, fortress to lake

The Rocca di Arignano dominates the Turin hills, offering breathtaking views of the Monferrato area and, on clear days, the Basilica of Superga and the Alps in the background. Along the way, you'll pass through vineyards, groves of oak and maple trees, and open areas rich with spring flowers. The Lake of Arignano, an artificial basin now a refuge for birds, hosts resident and migratory species: mallards, coots, grebes, cormorants, wild geese, purple herons. A birdwatching paradise!

Let's explore the historical landmarks of Arignano: the ancient fortress, the parish church of M.V. Assunta and San Remigio, and the iconic Four Towers Castle.

From the Castle to Lake Arignano: A Gentle Hiking Escape
"Winding around the castle walls, we'll hop onto a dirt track that meanders through cultivated fields and groves, leading us to the earthen dam. This dam creates the largest body of water in the Turin Hills, now a thriving nature oasis."

Lake Loop Hike & Birdwatching
We'll hike around the lake, pausing to observe the local birdlife. We might even spot some rare species like the Purple Heron, Little Bittern, Ortolan Bunting, Woodchat Shrike, Lesser Grey Shrike, Marsh Harrier, or Osprey.

Back to the old town and a visit to the Fortress.

The Arignano loop, fortress to lake

The Rocca di Arignano dominates the Turin hills, offering breathtaking views of the Monferrato area and, on clear days, the Basilica of Superga and the Alps in the background.
